The Hive - high needs resource base provision

The HIVE is a twelve‑place high needs resource provision within Endeavour Academy, supporting children in Year 1 and Year 2. It provides a nurturing environment where children can access a tailored educational experience. Access to the HIVE is for pupils who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), where the provision is named as appropriate to meet the child’s needs.

Places within the HIVE are funded and allocated by Tameside Local Authority. The school does not offer or allocate places directly. Parents and carers wishing for their child to be considered must apply through the Tameside Local Authority SEND team as part of the EHCP process.

Within our high needs base, we take a flexible and holistic approach to education. Our broad and balanced curriculum is specifically adapted to meet the individual needs of each child, enabling them to reach their full potential.

We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed, and our base provides the support and resources needed to ensure that each child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Our high needs base is designed to support children with a wide range of additional needs, including but not limited to:

  • Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC)
  • Speech, language, or communication challenges
  • Learning difficulties or disabilities

Each child is assessed individually, ensuring that the support provided is specific to their needs, and our approach is continually adjusted as they grow and develop.

We provide a safe, calm, and nurturing environment with:

  • Small group or 1:1 teaching
  • Personalised curriculum
  • Emotional and behavioural support
  • Access to therapies (e.g. speech and language)
  • Close collaboration with families and external professionals
  • A structured daily routine that supports independence and life skills

Our trained staff work closely with each child to build confidence, encourage progress, and celebrate every success.
